Happy Veteran’s day

This man was a mere mortal of flesh and blood.  He had the inner light of a warrior and he carried this with honor and pride.

I knew he was a man, with weaknesses that men have.  But I saw what was inside.  He was a Nobleman of Old.  He saw the demons , the evil and the beasts that few of us see.  He would give his life to slay them.  He would give his life for me.

He thought his life was better served on the battlefield.

He relied on his instincts and his brethren in the heat of battle.

As he turned his shining eyes away, I knew he couldn’t stay.  He had paused on his quest just long enough to give me a glimpse of himself.  There were battles to be fought and dragons to slay.

Remember, that the safety and freedoms that we experience is because of mere men.  Veterans.

Happy Veteran’s Day.

Unseen

This is a piece from 2016. It refers to the Unseen demons we all battle. When I came across this picture, which I thought was amazing, I thought she would be a perfect representation of that warrior. Enjoy. ❤

U – Unseen

Head up, shoulders back.

The water is a bitter drink, the air, like daggers tear at her heart.

She pushes back; those unseen dragons weigh heavily.

She has the resolve of the Ancients.  Her battle will forge the way.

Her daughter and her daughter after that will also chase the darkness.

Warrior

She does not fear the battle.  Her battle started long ago.  She knows her worth and will not cower.  She will not compromise for their whims.

She sees tomorrow for her daughter and her sister.  If she must go alone, it is for tomorrow’s legacy.

Finally, she will stand tall in the face of those that wish to cast her to the shadows; those that do not want her truth to be heard.

Tomorrow brings hope; hope for a time when she can lay down her sword and her sisters will go free.

Poet's Corner

It had been so cold and alone, those days in the dark.

There was a sadness on her soul and also in her heart.

She looked to the stars, the moon and the sun.

Warmth had turned it’s back, she thought she was done.

A Knight appeared before her and reached out to take her hand.

He was unlike any other in this unforgiving land.

Stars and Stripes

On the Birthday of this great nation, let’s not forget those that gave us the freedom to wave that beautiful flag.

As you hold your loved ones close watching the fireworks tonight, please remember the American Veteran.

These brave men and women have given up the joy of watching fireworks, or having a picnic, or seeing their children run through the sprinkler on a hot July day.
