RIP, Stephen Hawking 1942 – 2018

RIP Stephen Hawking. Please enjoy Lucky Otters Haven’s tribute.

Lucky Otters Haven

Like many others, I was deeply saddened by the loss of Stephen Hawking at the age of 76.

This is a man who was given two years to live in 1963, when he was first diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease.   He proved his doctors wrong.

Hawking was living proof that no matter what obstacles or challenges you have, you can still reach for the stars.   He did in a big way.    Stephen Hawking’s body may have been a terrible burden to him, but he was blessed with a beautiful mind that allowed him to open doors to the universe and let the rest of us through.

I just saw this picture and had to share it because I was so moved.  I have no idea who the artist is, sorry.

Everyday Heroes

*On this Veteran’s Day, my humble offering of a small tribute to those that serve and those that have served.  Thank you.

This man is a mere mortal of flesh and blood.  The light I see in his eyes is that of an honorable man.

He sees the demons and beasts that few of us see.  He would give his life to slay them.

These beasts are not in the form you would know.  They wear the cloak of innocence.  They are the neighbor next door or the woman at the market.

This man stands at the ready so you can sleep safely in your bed tonight.

He runs toward the demons in our world, not away from them.   There are battles to be fought and demons to slay.

How can we repay the sacrifice?
