Halloween Smiles

I completely blew it with the #OctPoWriMo, 31 poems in 31 days.  But, I forgive myself.  🙂  I have been busy with other things.  I did manage to write a few poems this month.  I’ve also submitted a few for publication and got 2 of them published!  So I’m pretty happy about that.

I am continuing to put together my poetry book for self-publication.  It’s already been a good learning experience!  A big THANK YOU to my Beta Readers!!

I got some work done on the house.  I was given a bunch of concrete pavers, from a neighbor (score!) so I set some of them around my deck in the backyard.  It looks awesome!  Pictures to come, soon.

I’ve had plenty to smile about this week!  If you have something to smile about, be sure to share it with us.  You can join in on the fun on Trent’s blog and find out all about it HERE.

Rocket didn’t want to wear a costume this year, so he opted for the always classic holiday scarf.  He wanted me to be sure to wish all of you a Happy Halloween!

A Long Time Dead – #OctPoWriMo

Bring me to the light.

I wish to bask in its warmth.

Darkness is much too cold.

Rejoice in life.

Savor the earth, the sky.

Awakening to the

joy of this world.

A miracle.

No promise of tomorrow

and we are

a long time dead.

I must give credit here to Michael for the inspiration for this poem.  The words “a long time dead” came from him and I knew I just had to do something with them.  Be sure to visit Michael’s blog.  You never know what you might find. 🙂

Faraway-#writephoto and #OctPoWriMo

I hear your voice faraway; it whispers my name.

You sailed into the sunset, but it’s me that’s adrift.

My heartbreak tints the clouds a dirty pink.

My tears, salty like the sea.

I’m chilled as I hear the echo once again.

Your voice.

A whisper.

Faraway.

Winter’s Child – #OctPoWriMo

*I know that I am Much too early for a poem about winter.  But the words “Winter’s Child” came to me and would not let me go.  So I had to do something with them.  I hope you enjoy.  🙂

Your eyes are icy blue;

your hair, winter white.

The sun no longer warms us,

Try as it might.

Your skin is as cold

as the lonely moon.

The stars look on with envy

as they spin their frigid tune.

The northern winds chill us

as you whisper December’s name.

A blanket of snow, your gift.

A frozen landscape, your aim.

No harm is meant to us

as the ice crystals softly drift.

For the Winter Child’s heart is tender.

The snow, a winter gift.

#OctPoWriMo-Desires

I justify

what my heart

desires

The anticipation,

an aphrodisiac

Your scent,

intoxicating

Drunk with yearning

You tempt me

again

and again

Not forbidden

but remorse

pangs me

As your sweet

morsels pass my

lips

Angel and demon,

Chocolate

You have taken

me

yet again.

#OctPoWriMo – Wasted Momentum

Lined face

A roadmap written by sins

Destruction willfully pursued

With a feeble dance

Sunrise

Darkened by cataracts

Wasted momentum

None remember
