My All

Your hand in mine
walk beside me

Your lips on mine
embrace me.

I must fill my eyes with you and
fill my lungs with the scent of our love

Let's take these moments
making memories to savor

Now is what matters
Today is all

You
are my all

Scars

*National Poetry Writing Month completely snuck up on me.  But here goes, day 1.

The memory of you
is now just a series
of scars

Scars that run deep
never fading

Lessons learned

A reminder of
my strength

My Writing Buddy

Here we are in the month of May of 2021 already!  It goes so fast, doesn’t it?

I participated in the NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writer’s Month) last month.  About half way through the month, I was wondering if my decision to participate was a good one or not!  I did struggle making my ‘deadline’ on several occasions, but managed to pull something out of the ‘ole grey matter just in time.

One thing that helped tremendously was that I found myself a writing buddy.  An “Accountability Buddy”, if you will.  Chuck over at The Reluctant Poet agreed to this.  This was great!  I knew I needed someone to poke me and encourage me to write Every Day! Chuck has become a Dear Friend and we write back & forth quite often.  So it was pretty easy to fall into a routine where I would send him a sneak peek of what was going to post the next day and he would share with me what he had written as well.  We bounced ideas off of each other and shared Writing Prompts that we found to be worthwhile.  We even collaborated on one poem that we jointly put together.  You can see that one HERE.

I’m really glad that I participated.  It got me back into my writing groove, which has been needing a boost lately and this is just what I needed.

Another plus to participating was that I discovered a few new bloggers along the way that were also joining in on the NaPoWriMo challenge.  So I have made new friends and have wonderful new posts to look forward to reading!

This is a lesson I will try to remember the next time I find myself in a writing slump.  I will find myself a writing buddy!  The WordPress Community has been so amazing to me, I’m sure I won’t have any trouble finding someone!  Right?

Right?  🙂

#NaPoWriMo-Day 30-Directions to My Heart

Follow the pathway along my yesterdays. Take a left just past my shortcomings. Take no heed of these and continue. The path will then turn treacherous, dark and vast. At times you will see pitfalls, things hidden from view that may come to light later in your journey. Stay the course.  If you persist, you will come to a valley that expands out to the horizon. This valley is filled with light and laughter, compassion, and wisdom. It seeks your light. This valley gives from its depths and expects the same from you. Followed precisely, these are the directions to my heart. From here you can see your tomorrow. And mine.

*Day 30 of NaPoWriMo! Finally!  While most of the prompts on NaPoWriMo’s website were not of much help to me, I did find this one today that seemed to work for me.  The prompt said to write a poem giving directions to someplace real or imagined.  I’m glad that I participated.  It got me back into my writing groove.  Thank you for following along!

#NaPoWriMo-Day 28-Poison

You
cry a river

you lay
awake at night

you wonder
‘what if’

he was poison
but

but...
what if..

you plotted your
escape

and now
finally free

you long for him
crave him
miss him

you yearn for
the one person
you know
is your
demise

the years of
conditioning
are evident

remind yourself

you are strong
enough

you
are
enough

#NaPoWriMo-Day 27-Still A Fool

STILL A FOOL
By Penny Wilson And Charles Robert Lindholm

I Was A Fool
My Judgment Was Blurred
Thinking Us Soulmates
Was So Absurd

Drunk On Your Kisses
And Lost In Your Eyes
Longing For Love
I Believed All Your Lies

Craving Your Touch
And Sweet Ecstasy
In Love With Love
And The Fantasy

I Took A Gamble
I Rolled The Dice
I Did What I Did
I Paid The Price

I’m Still A Fool,
I’d Do It Again

*Chuck over at The Reluctant Poet agreed to be my ‘writing buddy’ for NaPoWriMo.  It has been such a blessing to have someone in my corner cheering me on, someone to bounce ideas off of and someone to share the experience with!  Chuck suggested a collaboration and this is something that we bounced back & forth between us, before giving birth to it.  I hope you enjoyed it.

#NaPoWriMo-Day 26-No Evidence

The red ink
spatters upon the page
like blood

The truth
should be seen
not hidden inside

like a cancer

There is no transcript
no evidence
no witnesses

The mental anguish
hidden from public view

Nothing tells the world
who you truly are

There is no one
to judge you

at least not
here on Earth

Let my words
speak
for those who cannot

*This was inspired by my writing buddy and Dear Friend, Chuck over
at The Reluctant Poet.  Thank you Chuck, for your kindness, encouragement
and most of all for your friendship.

#NaPoWriMo-Day-21-Merely Human

She stepped down
from her pedestal

Until that moment
he saw her only as
one would envision
a supreme being

It was shocking to see
her shed her wings

to cast aside the virtuous
halo he had enslaved her with

He was dismayed
at how imprisoned
she had become

She was merely
human

after all
