Are you an Introvert?

*This is not a new post.  MOST of my feelings/attitude is the same.  I think that the degree of introvert-ness, if you will, varies in a person’s life.  Although a repeat, I hope you enjoy.  ❤

I’m a Home-Body and a Book Worm.  I prefer quiet evenings at home as opposed to those spent out.  I do much better with one on one interaction than in a crowded room.

I can put on the perfect smile and don my best dress and I will be that perfect lady on your arm.  I’ll be charming, witty and entertaining.  I can host a family feast during the holidays or attend that lavish event you’ve been looking forward to all year.

Is Your Loved One an Introvert?

I wrote an article for Introvert, Dear .com sometime back about recognizing and dealing with a loved one that is an Introvert.  Introvert, Dear .com has been kind enough to Repost that article!

If you have a loved one who may be an Introvert, this is information that may be helpful to you AND them in dealing with an Introvert.  If you would like to read my article, you can find it HERE.

One of a kind… Introvert

Alexis has written an excellent piece on introverts. A subject, as you know, close to my heart. Enjoy!

Alexis Raven

An introvert is NOT the same as being antisocial. Many people believe introverts are antisocial and that is not the case. Antisocial, literally meaning “against society” is a personality disorder. People who are anti social do not engage in socializing with others nor do they enjoy the company of other people. They are often disrespectful and violate the rights of others. On the other hand, introverts enjoy company but to a certain extent.

I have always been an introvert for as long as I can remember. Many people have the misconception that I am just quiet and lonely with no friends and shocked when they discover I have a boyfriend (like really?). I prefer to chill at home or go shopping or out to lunch with one or two friends than to be the life of a party every night with strangers (extremely overwhelming for me).

An Introvert Is NOT…

An introvert is Not

Most people, when they hear the word Introvert, have preconceived ideas about what that means. I want to tell you what it does NOT mean.

It does NOT mean that an Introvert is shy. –

An introvert may not talk a lot with people they do not know. But this has nothing to do with being shy. An introvert is an observer. They need to ease into the water slowly. At a social function, they may hang back, or stick with someone they know in order to feel comfortable. Once comfortable, an introvert may end up being the life of the party, the center of attention!

Is Your Loved One an Introvert?

* * I know I wrote recently about being an introvert, but I wanted to post this.  I am submitting this piece online and I hope it gets picked up.  I’ve reworked my original piece and I think I’ve got something worthwhile here.  I hope you enjoy.

Do you have a friend or a family member that always begs off when it comes to social gatherings?  Do they duck out early at a party?  Do they seem to be “not feeling well” or have a headache again, when they are asked to join in?

Then your loved one might be an introvert.

Being Alone

I’m an introvert.  Big surprise, right?  I need my down time and quiet time to recharge.  I think that’s why I’m still single.  I push men away if they demand too much from me.  I’m alone a lot of the time and most of the time I don’t mind it at all.  I’m not lonely except on rare occasions.

I think about dating again once in a while and then I think, “why bother?”  I know how it will end.  I’ll push him away, we’ll both be hurt and I’ll be alone again.

I’ve gotten so that I don’t know how to do anything else other than what I’m doing.  I’ve looked back and I’ve always said that I didn’t want to be alone.  But that’s exactly the path I’ve chosen.
