Thank a Veteran

These men and women of yesterday and today, willingly gave up their comfortable beds, so that we may sleep safe and secure in ours tonight. They are out there in the rain and the mud or the cold or the terrible heat, to be sure that our families have the right and the freedom to enjoy this holiday.

There are men women that are doing what most of us don’t want to think about. Things that are necessary to insure your safety and mine.

So hug your family tight and say a prayer for all veterans that have done what was needed in order to defending our freedom.

Thank a vet.

Knight’s Honour – #writephoto

His honour came from days of old
where maidens fell at his feet

Dragons roared and spewed fire
his challenge; to defeat.

His body clad in armor;
a helmet placed upon his head

To defend the king’s daughter,
His life’s blood, willingly shed.

As he breathed his last farewell,
she placed a rose upon his chest

She wept tears of sorrow,
knowing he had given his best.

The dragon lay cold and lifeless;
the village safe, for now

The knight died for their honour
After fulfilling his sacred vow.

I Believe In Heroes

This man was a mere mortal of flesh and blood.  The light I saw in his eyes was that of an honorable man.  The honor this man carried with pride, was that of rare and unimaginable beauty.

I knew he was a man, with weaknesses as men have.  But I saw what was inside.  He was a Nobleman of Old.  He saw the demons and beasts that few of us see.  He would give his life to slay them.

He thought his life was better served on the battlefield.

He relied on his instincts and his brethren in the heat of battle.

My hand touched his, one last time, as he turned his shining eyes away.  I knew he couldn’t stay.  He had paused on his quest just long enough to give me a glimpse of himself.  There were battles to be fought and dragons to slay.

Modern Day Knight

Image

One day in the dark of the forest, down at the bottom of that deep, dark well, he came to me.

His arms, strong, but tender, raised me from the depths of that well.

The blue of his eyes shone through the night as if the light were coming from within.

I discovered this man was a mere mortal of flesh and blood.

This man had no sword or armor, as we would normally see with a Knight.
