The most fortunate are those who have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe,
pleasure, and wonder.

Please don’t miss this uplifting piece! 🙂
How often do you have a crazy idea and after that you think it will never become a reality? You get from excited to sad very quickly, don’t you? That’s because the actual reality doesn’t match with the future one if you don’t know how it can be done. And that happens all the […]
Remember to relish the little things. It’s all those wonderful small, moments that make up our past. Please enjoy Trent’s lovely post and join in! ❤
I had a lot to smile about this week. Last night friends I hadn’t seen in a while invited me to an impromptu get together. Saturday I saw a good movie about Vincent Van Gogh, At Eternities Gate (William Dafoe is excellent as Vincent). Friday afternoon I shut off my work computer to start a […]
*I’ve written about depression and Mental Illness previously. I continue to speak out about this to help overcome the stigma attached to it. No One Is Immune. Please read. You may just save a life.
There was a time when getting out of bed and facing the day, was my biggest challenge. The effort it took to get dressed and go to work every day was a huge struggle. All I wanted to do was to sleep because when you sleep, you don’t have to face anyone. You don’t have to deal with anyone or anything.
Most days, to cope, you put on your mask to hide the pain you’re going through, and you step out the front door to face the day. You go through the motions that you must to survive. You work, you cook, you eat, you bathe. But that’s ALL you are doing. Surviving.
Depression does that.
Most of you are much too young to understand what the title of this post is referencing. 🙂 I may not owe my soul to the Company Store, but before it’s done, I’ll owe it to Home Depot! hee hee!
Being a new homeowner has had So Many Joys! I love my little nest. ❤ (The picture above IS of my cute little house, although the grass has started to come back and is greening up nicely. This was the Realtor.com picture.) I had no idea how Handy I would become, working around the house! I’ve always considered myself self-sufficient, but I am learning things that I never knew that I would need to know!
“When was the last time you did something for the first time?” This is a line in the song “For the First Time” sung by Darius Rucker. I’m experiencing a lot of “firsts” right now. Being in my new home is such a Blessing! It has made me take note of all of those little firsts. The first time I cooked a meal in my kitchen. The first time I sat on my deck and listened to the rain. The first time I looked out my kitchen window and watched the squirrels run and frolic on the lawn. The first time Rocket ran across the yard, chasing a squirrel, to defend me and His yard!
Being from a small rural town in Oregon and moving to the mega metroplex of the DFW area has been a Huge transition for me. Now that I have my own little slice of “nature” and a relatively quiet neighborhood, I’m in heaven!!
Because of all of the work that I’ve been doing since I moved, my feet and legs are killing me. This gives me the perfect excuse to sit and post something here while I rest up.
Although it’s been hard work, BLESSED is how I am feeling about my life. I want to pinch myself! I came from Very Humble Beginnings. So to have my own home is almost unbelievable for me! Happy, happy girl here!
Thank you for joining me on this journey! Penny ❤
Think about THIS the next time you look through your pile of junk mail…
I miss letters. The kind you used to get in your mail box. Remember those? Nobody writes letters anymore. Even one of my dear friends who is now almost 80, sends emails rather than letters.
I still get a few Christmas cards every year, but even those are not nearly as numerous. Most people if they do anything at all, they will send you an “e-card”. Somehow, it’s just not the same.
I remember the thrill when I would find a letter from a childhood friend in the mail box. It was so exciting! I remember, making myself wait until I could devote my undivided attention to that letter. Then I would sit and read it several times, relishing every word.
Remember Pen Pals? I had a few growing up. One was a Girl Scout that I met while I lived in the Philippines. She was a Girl Scout from…
