Beauty at This Old House

In my last post, I showed you some construction, etc., that is going on in my world. This post, I would like to share with you some of the beauty I have here. You’ll see the reason I decided to buy this place and why I love it so much. I hope you enjoy.

Front of the property.
Back of the property. There is another 1+ acres behind me as well.
Wildflowers from my “Back 40”.
A bunny that I have had the pleasure of seeing on several occasions in my back yard.
A baby tree that I planted in my “Back 40”.

Despite the sheet rock dust and the needed repairs, the beauty of this place is what keeps me motivated to continue with the work here. I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos of my little piece of the world.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Penny ❤

Signs!

“Signs, Signs, everywhere a sign.  Blocking out the scenery and breaking my mind.”  I guess I’m dating myself.  Some of you will get that and some of you won’t.   🙂

Looking at the picture above, the first time I was faced with going through this intersection, I kinda freaked out.  At first my brain could not decipher what the hell I was looking at!   I’d never seen a sign like this before!

I managed to figure it out without causing any fender benders going through the intersection, but it sure caused my heart to skip a beat at first!

Living in rural Oregon, “traffic” is when you have to wait for more than 2 cars at the stop sign to get onto the main road.

When I first moved to the Fort Worth area, I was pretty intimidated by the traffic here.  Just getting on the freeway was daunting!  Where I used to live, the freeway looked a lot like this:

But where I live now, they look like this!

Actually, it looks more like this:

In Oregon, I lived about 8 miles from work.  It took me roughly 10 minutes to get to work.  Here, I live Less than 8 miles from work.  On the average, it takes me about 25 minutes to get to work.  On a good day, 20 minutes.  I’ve had it take as long as 40 minutes to go those less than 8 miles!   Crazy!

But I digress.  The reason for this post is the Sign! The Sign!

That Crazy traffic sign!   I really, really hate the traffic here.  So coming upon a Crazy sign like this just blew my mind.

I have a Wonderful life here in Texas and I do my best to show my gratitude to the Powers That Be.  But Dear TXDOT people, please, please, no more signs like this!

Time in the Country

I love a small town.  Quiet mornings and the slower pace.

Thursday I headed South to my brother’s place.  My brother and sister-in-law live in a tiny town of 820 people.  It’s very quiet.

The drive south was lovely.  Traveling in the mid morning on a Thursday, did not present much traffic.  As I left the city behind me, the scenery around me showed me it’s celebration of Spring.

The Bluebonnets are in bloom here in Texas.  I was also treated to an array of different colors of Morning Glory and Indian Paint Brush.

The fat black cows in contrast to the bright green of the fields around them had their own beauty.

The day before me was glorious, as if God was showing off after winter.

There isn’t much to tell you about the 2 days I spent at my brother’s place.  Mostly what we did was sit around and visit, get caught up and watch the slow pace of the world outside go by.

I spent some time in the swing in the backyard, watching Little Dog explore the Great Outdoors of the big back yard.  I sat and marveled at the quiet and the spring smells of the breeze.

I love my home and my life in the city, but the peace of the country has a way of recharging me.  I love Spring!
