#NaPoWriMo-Day-21-Merely Human

She stepped down
from her pedestal

Until that moment
he saw her only as
one would envision
a supreme being

It was shocking to see
her shed her wings

to cast aside the virtuous
halo he had enslaved her with

He was dismayed
at how imprisoned
she had become

She was merely
human

after all

Angels With No Wings

Don Gregory. ANGELS WITH NO WINGS

We think we know how angels look,
Flowing robes and big white wings.
Way beyond the clouds someplace,
Each one plays a harp and sings.

There are other kinds of angels,
This I'm finding out.
If you ever need them,
You'll find they're all about.

They traded robes for scrubs and lab coats,
They're in every color, and every hue.
These special kinds of angels,
Who watch over me, and you.

Some have stethoscopes instead of halos,
Caring smiles, instead of wings.
Taking care of our afflictions.
And the issues each one brings.

Instead of harps, their music,
Is a friendly soothing voice.
They didn't have to be here,
Each of them has made a choice.

Nurses, doctors, techs and more,
All handy on the scene.
Therapists, and all the folks
That cook, serve, and keep things clean.

Perhaps it's a calling,
That makes them good at what they do.
All I know is that I'm glad they're here,
To take care of me and you.

When the Lord see's fit to call them home,
And they're through with earthly things.
There is a special place in heaven,
For these angels with no wings.

A Bump in the Night by Penny Lane

A Big Thank You to Mae Clair for allowing me the honor of Guest Posting on her Blog! She is an amazing talent! Be sure to give her blog a look!
Thank you again Mae! Big hug!
Penny

From the Pen of Mae Clair

I have a new guest I’d like to introduce you to today. Penny is a blogger I met through Jess Bakkers. She is a free-lance writer with quite an interesting background. You can meet her and learn about her background on her blog, Penny Lane’s Thoughts.

In reaching out and making new friends, Penny is offering to do guest posts. It’s always nice to have someone new drop by my blog to meet my friends and readers. Hopefully, a few of Penny’s followers will meander over here as well. It’s how bloggers connect and expand their inner circles. I told her my regular readers were used to seeing content related to folklore, myth, or creatures (among writing topics), so she put together a short story to share.

I hope you enjoy, and will welcome Penny with your thoughts in the comments.
