Fool’s Errand

I repeatedly relive
that day.

You were at my fingertips,
once.

Foolishly,
I let you go.

Trying to change the past,
is a fool's errand.

Now the search begins
anew.

I thought I found you
in a smile.

Just a wish.

My illusions
tease me.
