Make Me a Promise

Make me a promise

Share with me
your dreams
your words
and your heart

Promise that
you'll see me
as I am
not
as you hope me to be

Promise
you'll hold my hand
and my heart
tenderly

That you'll kiss me
always
as you do today

Promise that our nights
on the riverbank
will cool our skin
but not our fervor

Promise to be mine
always

Make me a promise
