Thank a Veteran

These men and women of yesterday and today, willingly gave up their comfortable beds, so that we may sleep safe and secure in ours tonight. They are out there in the rain and the mud or the cold or the terrible heat, to be sure that our families have the right and the freedom to enjoy this holiday.

There are men women that are doing what most of us don’t want to think about. Things that are necessary to insure your safety and mine.

So hug your family tight and say a prayer for all veterans that have done what was needed in order to defending our freedom.

Thank a vet.

  1. Thanks Penny. I only hope that America will continue to honor its service persons and veterans even after the guns fall silent. While no other country in the world honours its war time military better than the US, it seems to go 180 degrees in the other direction when it comes to the peacetime military. I am speaking from my own experience. I served in the marines from 1979-83 and in the eyes of America, we were considered a joke. We were all druggies and criminals and even welfare cheats. Someone once told me that I only went into the service because I was too lazy to get a ‘real’ job. It’s only the past ten years Americans have actually thanked me for my service. If people had done that when I actually did serve and the years after coming out, I wouldn’t have been so bitter for nearly 30 years.
