My dear friend Jessica Bakkers did a very sweet post sometime back about her beloved dogs and all of the sweet nicknames she had for them. This got me thinking about all of the different nicknames I have for my furkid, Rocket.
First of all, his “official” name is Rocket Ralph Wilson. He came by Rocket because when he gets excited, he gets the “zoomies” and he runs like hell, taking off like a rocket! You would never know that this tiny dog could move so fast. His middle name, Ralph, is the Last Name of his first Mommie before he became my furkid. Of course, Wilson is because my last name is Wilson.
The nicknames. Let’s start with the ones that have to do with “Rocket”. There’s Rocket Man, Sprocket Rocket and Pocket Rocket. Then there are the ones that are not as obvious. Buddy, Baby, Baby Boo, Boo Boo and just Boo. Then I really get carried away and will call him Babaloo or Babaloo Baby Boo, or Boogaloo and Boogaloo Baby Boo. Crazy, right? 🙂
I will often call him by his “personality” names, like Sweet Boy and Sweet Baby.
Then there are the ones that refer to his personal appearance. Big Boy, Little Boy, Little Man and lately, because of the white in his hair, Little ‘Ole Man.
This is gonna sound weird. When he lays on his stomach and puts his back feet behind him, it seems to create an extra bit of fat around his butt. So at times, I call him Mr. Squishy Butt.
This little guy, at only 5 lbs, has made a HUGE difference in my life and has a HUGE place in my heart. No matter what I call him, he is such a love in my life and it would be an empty place without him.

Oh Penny! I’m both laughing and crying as I read this! First, your adoration of Boogaloo Baby reminds me how I felt about my girls and makes my chest get all tight. Second, Mr Squishy Butt is so adorably funny (not to mention the supermodel pose that goes along with it).
What a special little man you’ve got there. Cherish him!

You hug him all up Penny. And when that awful time does come, remember he’s had THE BEST life with you, and will pass over Rainbow Bridge wanting for nothing.
