So what do we do with All those Books? You know what I’m talking about. There are the ones on the nightstand (like in the picture above) that are waiting to be read. There are the ones on the book shelf shelf that need to be read, or they are too precious to turn loose. Then there are the ones that we need to pass along, donate or whatever, but we have not gotten around to doing this. So what do we do with all of these? I say PUT THEM TO WORK!
I love books. I really do. It’s been a life long love affair, starting when I was just a small child. Over the years, I’ve dragged piles and boxes of books all over the country with me every time I moved. I have lost many books and have shed a tear or two over some precious ones along the way.
I’ve always had a certain reverence and respect for books. They are the windows and pathways to those worlds we do not or cannot travel physically. I developed a Love of reading very young. (Thank you Mom!) I was taught to handle and care for books with respect.
I have tried diligently to stop hanging on to books! I’ve thinned them down….sigh. But I still have shelves, boxes, and piles of books.
So I decided that if these books were going to be a continuing part of my life, then they were going to earn their keep! This is a SMALL dent. But below are ways that I have put a few of my books to work.
I raised the head of my bed a few inches to combat acid re flux. Why spend good money on silly gadgets when your books will work for free?
Of course we must do Both side of the bed. I can’t have a lop-sided bed now, can I? Hee hee!!
This is where my bedroom TV sits. My DVD player is just a little too thick to sit under the middle of the TV, so I put it under one of the legs. I had to find something to prop the other leg up to the same height. What to use? A book!
Need a door stop? Put a book to work!
Books are a huge part of many of our lives. You might want to look at them a little differently to see how they be put to work for you too!
