Most People Are Good

I believe most people are good
And most mama’s oughta qualify for sainthood

Those are the first 2 lines in the chorus of the song Most People Are Good sung by Luke Bryan.  I listen to mostly C&W music these days.  Although my taste in music varies wildly.  Those 2 lines made me think.

I DO think that most people ARE good.  I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.  I will trust and believe what you say until you prove that I cannot.  This is just the way that I’m wired.  I’ve TRIED to be more wary or cynical of people, but I just can’t do it.  My heart won’t let me.  I just believe that in general, most people ARE good.

Call it what you will.  Call it naive’, or call it stupid, it’s who I am.  In today’s world, I know that having faith in people, like I have, is a little hard to swallow.  BUT look at it this way.  If you start out with the faith that the person standing in front of you is a good person, you are going into the involvement with this person with a positive attitude!

I also believe that putting out that positivity into the universe will bring positivity back to you.  Karma.

And can’t we all use a little more positivity in our lives?

Now, addressing the 2nd line in that chorus.  And most mama’s oughta qualify for sainthood

Amen.

Below are the lyrics to the song Most People Are Good.  Look it up on YouTube.  I think you’ll enjoy listening to it.  And you might just be a little less cynical after hearing it.  🙂

  2. This is lovely and upbeat, Penny. I used to think that all people were good but recent events are tainting that rosy picture.

  3. Pretty good philosophy, I agree most people are good, and besides, gotta love anything that’s come out of Luke Bryan’s mouth 🤗
Love C&W. There are some great uplifting themes in c&w music. Anything by Diamond Rio and a lot by Little Big Town fits this bill. I knew I liked you for a reason… it’s your incredible taste in music 😁

I agree, most people are good. A lot of people don’t act good for various reasons. A lot of people have whacked beliefs that aren’t so good. And there are a few, hopefully very few, people who really aren’t – the psychopaths, sociopaths and such. But deep down inside, most people are good.

  6. There are a lot of good lines in this song. I’m not a country western music listener, choosing instead to listen to Christian music which uplifts me.

As far as “most people are good,” I would hope so. But not all are and we really need to trust our guts on that. And our observations. And the evidence. Those are all determining factors in deciding whether someone may be less than honest, manipulative and ill-intentioned toward you. Still, I believe most people are good.
