Tell Your Face!

My ex-husband could be rude & crude to the extreme.  It’s One of the Many reasons that he’s the Ex-husband.  He was also Very quick witted.  One day his wit and timing was flawless…

Have you ever encountered that waitress, bank teller, sales clerk or other person that works in the public eye that just has a dead-pan look on their face?  Like those sullen Creatures at Walmart that MIGHT utter a hello if you poke them real hard with a sharp stick?  You know what I mean, we see them all the time, right?

The ex and I were having dinner at a local restaurant one evening.  I always make a point to be Very courteous to wait-staff.  I’ve done it for a living and it is HARD work AND it is a Thankless, terrible job.  My ex knew how I felt, so he was also very kind & courteous to the staff as well.

A young lady in her twenties had been waiting on our table.  She had never once cracked a smile.  No matter what we said.  Our Thank You’s and smiles went unheeded.  We noticed that this woman was surly and grumpy with everyone.

The ex couldn’t stand it.

The next time the waitress came by the table; she was refilling his glass of tea.  The Ex looks up at her and asks, “Miss, do you like your job?”  The young woman blinked a couple of times.  I think she was surprised by the question.  She said “Yes, I like my job.”

He said “You need to tell your face.”
