Books, Books, Books!

My Dear, Dear, sweet friends, PLEASE stop giving me fabulous books to read!  Dear, writing community, will I ever catch up?  Dear Self, Please, Please Stop buying books!! 🙂

I have a terrible addiction.  I know I share this addiction with many of you.  When I’m in the grocery store, I have to be sure to NOT go down the aisle were the magazines and books are at.  I tell myself, “I’ll just look at the covers and see what’s new.”  Female authors are really hot right now (yay us!) and I like to see what’s hot, what’s new, etc.  I love looking at the cover art.  After all, some day I will have a book in print.

LIES!  All lies!  I usually end up with a new book in my cart.

The picture above is my night stand.  Yes, I see the dust.  The stack of books is my current “To Be Read” pile.  There are more on the book shelf.  Big ‘ole Hard Backs that are those “some day” books.  Some day when I get around to it.  You know…  But these are the ones I’m just itching to read!  …sigh.

The order of these books keep shifting too.  When I get a new book, it goes into the stack according to how (a) anxious I am to read it or (b) how important it is in my life right now to read it.

Sometimes I feel like this guy.  When there’s finally enough time, I’ll have broken the last pair of glasses in the world!  🙂

Do you have a To Be Read pile?

  1. I have a to read Box! We recently bought a house and I promised my husband I would donate all the books I had already read. Little did he know I have a secret stock pile!

  2. I’m new to blogging and reading through other people’s blogs, really finding this comforting. May I ask, have you read any books that really opened your eyes to the world that may be good for me to check out?

    1. Thank you for the note and thank you for the Follow. I grew up in a very different time. I read the Classics,Mark Twain, William Golding, etc. While they were wonderful for me at the time, they are probably old-fashioned for you. I feel that reading, all reading is worthwhile. My best advice to you is to simply read. Read, read and read some more. No matter what you read, you learn. watch less TV and less gaming and pick up a book instead. Trust me, once you get into it, you will have books you cannot put down. You won’t miss the other stuff. *Sorry for the long reply. I get on a roll. 🙂 Best to you Nick. Penny

  3. OMG! I use my kindle all the time and am ALWAYS buying books! It’s just too easy to click and be done! I got my Amazon Visa bill the other day, and could NOT believe the total!! Let’s just say last month was a doozy for buying books!! 🙂
